Australian tennis player, Casey Dellacqua, has taken an indefinite break from tennis as she continues to recover from the concussion that she suffered following a nasty fall at the Beijing Open in October last year.

The 31-year-old has been dormant on the court ever since the incident, with the $125K event in San Antonio – where she lost in the first round to Tsvetana Pironkova – being her only participation this season.

Dellacqua took to her Instagram account to update her fans with the news. “I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m going to take a bit of time away from competition. I thought that I was fully recovered from my concussion injury but I feel like I need a bit more time to get 100% healthy.

“I look forward to being back on tour & competing again soon when I am ready. Thanks for everyone’s support always.”

Dellacqua is best known for winning the Roland Garros mixed doubles title along with American Scott Lipsky in 2011. Besides, she also has runner-up finishes to her name at all four Grand Slams.
