U.S. Open champion, Marin Cilic, insists that two-time Grand Slam winner, Andy Murray, will overcome a mediocre season to ascend to his best next year.

Murray, who failed to pull off a major championship this year, winded up the year with a substandard win-loss record of 60-21.

“I believe Andy’s going to show next year the good form that he’s been showing for the last few years,” AFP quoted Cilic as saying.

Murray, who had hired former women’s world number one Amelie Mauresmo as his new coach, faced flak for his decision of parting ways with the great Ivan Lendl. However, Cilic feels the other way round.

“Concerning his coaching team, I believe he knows the best. And I mean with having a woman coach, I don’t see any problem there.

“Tennis is tennis and he’s played the same,” concluded Cilic, who will be a part of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) alongside Murray and some other top players.
