Andy Murray favourite to win Wimbledon: Tim Henman

World No. 1 Andy Murray has had a disappointing season so far. A substandard win-loss record of 22-9 is a testimony to it.

Off the nine defeats this year, Murray lost five times in the just-concluded clay-court season, wherein his best run was a semi-final (lost to Stanislas Wawrinka) appearance at the French Open.

To pile on the misery, his grass-court swing began with a stunning first-round exit at the Aegon Championships in London following a 6-7 2-6 loss to Australia’s Jordan Thompson.

However, despite the lean patch, the Brit is likely to defend the coveted Wimbledon trophy this year, believes former British tennis player Tim Henman.

“I’m not too worried about his supposed fall due to the injuries he’s had. You cannot have injuries and expect to be at the top of the world,” the 42-year-old Henman said, adding leading Grand Slam winners Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will be the other favourites.

“Andy is among the three big favorites to win Wimbledon, alongside Roger and Rafa. He  (Andy) is the best player of the moment and the ranking of the last 12 months does not lie,” he added.

The 131st edition of the Wimbledon Championships is scheduled to begin on July 3 at the All England Club.
