Coach Ivan Lendl is in high spirits after signing up with World No. 2 Andy Murray for his second stint as coach.

Lendl, a former World No. 1 and multiple Grand Slam champion himself, revealed that he and Murray are planning to put a stop to top-ranked Novak Djokovic’s purple patch, as they begin their preparations for the prestigious Wimbledon Championships that commences later this month.

Having won both the majors so far this season at the Australian Open and French Open, Djokovic could well complete a calendar year Grand Slam and the ‘Golden Slam’, should he succeed to clinch the gold medal at the Rio Olympics this year.

However, Lendl insists that his apprentice Murray is certainly going to give the Serb a run for his money.

“In tennis there is the career Grand Slam, there is four in a row, there is the calendar year Grand Slam and the Golden Slam,” Lendl was quoted as saying by ClubCall. “He (Djokovic) has a chance to do that this year. Obviously Andy and I would like to ruin those plans if we can.”

Djokovic leads Murray 24-10 in career meetings.
