Second seed Ana Ivanovic sailed into the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International 2015 after making short work of local hope Jarmila Gajdosova, thereby ending Australia’s women’s contention at the tournament.

Ivanovic, 27, saved all the 7 break-point opportunities en route her 6-4, 6-1 triumph over her 70th-ranked counterpart at the Pat Rafter Arena on Wednesday.

“We actually grew up together playing juniors so we’ve known each other for a long time,” Ivanovic was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I really tried to get into the match a little bit in the beginning and I was really happy to raise my level in the second set,” she added.
