Eugenie Bouchard shared a ‘sappy’ post on Instagram as she visited a new country, something she’s not accustomed to.

The Canadian tennis player, who flew down to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for the ongoing Tashkent Open, went solo sight-seeing in the Uzbek city.

She later took to her official Instagram account to share a picture with her 1.8 million followers.

“Visited a new country this week! This is a rare occasion because I’ve been traveling around the world for 15 years now, so I’ve been many places,” Bouchard wrote in a lengthy post.

“I should count them all and keep track. It’s been so interesting to see the culture, people & food here; it’s like a mix of Asia, Russia and the Middle East.

“You can imagine how good the food is! Tennis has allowed me to travel so much and I’m very grateful. Ok end of sappy post.

“PS I’m super shy in this pic cuz I asked a stranger to take it! Solo sight seeing ftw.”

It, however, didn’t turn out to be a memorable debut in the country for Bouchard – a former Wimbledon finalist – as she crashed out in the first round of the WTA International event.

Bouchard was beaten 3-6 3-6 by Nao Hibino of Japan earlier this week.
