Novak Djokovic’s Centre Court wish granted as Roger Federer suffers Wimbledon relegation

Wimbledon 2018 has been at the centre of a little controversy. At the heart of the matter was the fact that 12-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic was made to play on Centre Court just once, while his contemporaries Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have played all their matches on the 15,000-seater court so far.

Ahead of his quarter-final match against Kei Nishikori, Djokovic was asked if he expects to play on the main court this time around. “We will see, hopefully,” was his short answer.

The move, however, seemed difficult as it would imply either Federer or Nadal would be relegated to Court 1 for their own last-eight battles.

On Tuesday, though, the officials made the bold move by dropping Federer versus Kevin Anderson to Court 1 and promoting Djokovic versus Nishikori on Centre Court.

No wonder, fans had mixed reactions to it on Twitter.

“Am i dreaming? Novak on CC and Roger on court 1?” one person tweeted. “About time you respect your 3-time champ,” another one wrote.

“Roger should be on Centre Court!!! 8 times Champion!!!! You Forget it ??” and “Shame Roger should be on CC,” were some tweets opposing the move.
