Police have arrested a suspect concerning the Petra Kvitova case, according to Czech media reports.

On the fateful night of December 20, 2016, a man entered Kvitova’s house in Prostejov on pretext of meter-reading. Once he made his way in, he took out a knife in an attempt to steal cash and other valuables.

To fight the burglar off, Kvitova had her dominant left hand injured. Consequently, she underwent a surgery following which she was sidelined for about six months.

The two-time Wimbledon champion, who is currently in Paris, reportedly identified the suspect even as an official announcement is yet to be made.

Her spokesperson Karel Tejkal, too, declined to reveal more details. “Because I do not want and can not threaten the course of the investigation, I will not comment on the hotline,” Tejkal was quoted as saying by isport.blesk.cz.

“Petra is in Paris and is getting ready for the tournament. When she comes up with some vital information, she’s going to deal with it.”

Meanwhile, Kvitova, who has won back-to-back titles in Prague and Madrid, will start as one of the favourites at the French Open that begins this weekend.
