Difficult for mothers to make competitive comeback: Ana Ivanovic

If you have been waiting for Ana Ivanovic to come out of retirement, you’ll probably have to wait forever.

The former world No. 1, who announced her retirement at the end of 2016 season, recently gave birth to her first child – a baby boy named Luka.

And unlike some of the others moms like Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka on the women’s tour, Ivanovic doesn’t intend to launch her competitive comeback.

“There are lots of mothers on the circuit, playing, coming back and I really admire them because it’s very difficult to do it, not only physically but mentally,” the 30-year-old said, as quoted by bolamarela.pt.

“Half of my body and my brain are as if they were my son’s. I have a lot of difficulties in spending time away from my son because I do not want to miss anything.

“I fall more and more in love with my son every day,” added Ivanovic, who is married to German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The couple, along with their new-born, has been based out of the United States as Schweinsteiger is a part of the Major League Soccer.
