Kyle Edmund embroiled in a heated discussion with chair umpire John Blom during his semi-final match against Marin Cilic at the Australian Open on Tuesday.

The British prospect, contesting in his first last-four battle at a Grand Slam, was unhappy after a call was overturned in his Croatian opponent’s favour.

It happened during the fifth game of the second set when a Cilic serve was called out. He, however, challenged the call and the hawk-eye showed it was well in.

The point was overturned, much to the dismay of Edmund, who insisted that the late call disturbed his return that went on to land wide.

“This is rubbish,” the 23-year-old Edmund told the chair umpire, adding: “Get the referee, I’m not having it.”

Edmund went on to lose 2-6 6-7 2-6 in the battle that lasted two hours and 18 minutes.
