Andrey Rublev failed in his quest to break a racket during his second-round match at the Qatar Open on Wednesday.

Up against Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco, the 20-year-old Russia had a moment of disappointment when he decided to displace it on the poor racket, trying to break it apart by smashing on his knee.

Embarrassingly, however, Rublev couldn’t pull it off even as he went on to score a 6-4 3-6 6-4 win to set up a quarter-final date with Croatia’s Borna Coric.

This is not the first time that the strings has defied him.

During his match against Portugal’s Joao Sousa at the St. Petersburg Open in September 2016, Rublev couldn’t do the over-the-knee racket break, something Swiss star Stan Wawrinka is famous for.
