Ivo Karlovic has been sidelined from action due to an ankle injury that forced him to retire midway during the European Open in Antwerp last week.

The Croatian giant later announced his withdrawal from next week’s ATP Masters event in Paris, meaning he will straight away return to action in 2018.

Karlovic, 38, cracked a hilarious joke on his official Twitter handle, announcing he will not compete at the upcoming ATP Next Gen Final — a tournament for young prospects — due to his ankle issues.

“Sorry to announce I will not be able to attend Next Gen finals in Milan this year due to injury in my left ankle. Hope to see you next year,” he wrote to his 112,000 followers.

No wonder, his fans were quick to appreciate the joke. Even French tennis player Julien Benneteau couldn’t resist joining in. “Me neither,” he replied.

You’re a funny man, Ivo!
