When England edged out India in the women’s World Cup final on Sunday, a twitter banter between English journalist Piers Morgan and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was foreseeable.

And, the chitchat did take place soon after the hosts eked out a 9-run win over India in a thrilling final at the Lord’s.

“You OK, buddy @virendersehwag? #WWC2017final,” Morgan wrote to Sehwag along with a triplet of ‘tears-of-joy’ emoticon.

Sehwag, who is known for his humorous and sarcastic tweets, wasn’t the one to take the bullet.

“Me and all of India prouder even in this loss than you can ever be mate. We fought well &will only get better & stronger. Enjoy for a change!” Sehwag wrote.

This is not the first time that the two exchanged words on twitter.

Morgan took aim at India after their gold medal-less outing at the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, Sehwag shot back, reminding the former that England is yet to win a 50-over World Cup despite inventing the sport.
