Reclaiming No. 1 ranking is Roger Federer’s ‘dream’, not ‘goal’

Not many would have backed Roger Federer to win another Grand Slam title. But, the Swiss ace proved his doubters wrong by pulling off his 18th Major at the Australian Open 2017.

Now that the major mission has been accomplished, the 35-year-old is charged upon reclaiming the No. 1 position in the ATP rankings — a position he held for a long time during his heydeys.

Federer, however, says that getting back the numero uno status is just a “dream” and not a “goal” for him.

“[Getting] back to No. 1 is not my goal, it’s a dream,” he said upon his arrival back home, where his fans flocked in numbers with flags and bells at the Zurich airport.

“I am very happy to return to Switzerland and see this reception,” added Federer, who jumped seven places to No. 10 in the rankings released on Monday following his triumph Down Under.
