Italian tennis player Roberta Vinci, the 2015 US Open finalist, has hinted at hanging up her racquet by the end of this season.

This comes after the 33-year-old crashed out in the quarter-final of this year’s Championships, which will see her ranking drop out of Top 10 for the first time in 2016.

“For now I’m going home, I will rest and then just think about what I will do and whether I will finish my career or not,” the present World No. 8 told after losing 7-5 6-0 to Angelique Kerber on Tuesday.

“I do not know if I still have to game to play in 2017,” added Vinci, who is now expected to compete in Wuhan and Beijing before staking her claim at the WTA Finals in Singapore (if she qualifies).

This is not the first time that she has spoken of her retirement plans. During the Zhuhai event last year, she had divulged that 2016 would be her swansong and that she is unlikely to continue thereafter.

No wonder, the end is nearing for Vinci!
