Saturday turned out to be an eventful day of tennis – Agnieszka Radwanska and Pablo Carreno Busta gathered momentum ahead of the US Open, the fancied coaching partnership of Milos Raonic and John McEnroe came to an end, while some big names are scheduled to get the season-ending Grand Slam underway.

After accepting a last-minute wildcard into the tournament, Agnieszka Radwanska went on to claim her 19th WTA singles title at the Connecticut Open in New Haven, USA. The fourth-ranked Pole overcame a tricky second set to clinch a 6-1 7-6 conquest of Ukraine’s No. 10 seed Elina Svitolina in the title-clash.

At the ATP New Haven Open, Pablo Carreno Busta sprung up a surprise as he upset second-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut in an all-Spanish final on Sunday. The 16th seed prevailed in the battle of nerves, winning 6-7 7-6 6-4 that saw him pull off his maiden singles title on the tour.

The much-hyped coaching partnership of Milos Raonic and John McEnroe has been halted, meaning that the duo won’t be together for the US Open. McEnroe said that the decision will “make life easier for everyone” as he refrained from getting deep into it. The duo had joined hands before the Wimbledon this year.

The US Open 2016 gets underway on Monday, with the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal starting their respective campaigns. Here’s the complete schedule for Monday.
