World No. 2 Andy Murray and defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka both moved past their respective fourth-round counterparts to enter the quarter-finals of the Roland Garros on Sunday.

Murray survived 18 aces from American 15th seed John Isner and consolidated his serve throughout the match to cruise for a straight-set 7-6 6-4 6-3 triumph on court Suzanne-Lenglen.

Up next for him awaits local favorite Richard Gasquet, who put up a stellar display of tennis to oust 5th seed Kei Nishikori of Japan, winning 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2.

Wawrinka, the defending champion, survived a stern test from Serbia’s Victor Troicki, the No. 22 seed, before prevailing 7-6 6-7 6-3 6-2 on court Philippe-Chatrier.

The Swiss fired 19 aces and scored 67 winners to set up a quarter-final match with Spain’s Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who caused a major upset by ousting 8th seed Milos Raonic of Canada, 6-2 6-4 6-4.

In the women’s division, 4th seed Garbine Muguruza brushed aside former champion Svetlana Kuznetosva 6-3 6-4 to make her way to the last-eight stage.

Moving on, she’s scheduled to cross the swords with unheralded American Shelby Rogers, who stunned 25th seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-4 in the other fourth-round battle.
