Believed by many to be the best team in the NFL right now, the streaking San Diego Chargers took on bitter AFC West division rival Kansas City in San Diego today (Sun., October 19, 2014).

Kansas City had been struggling to gain any momentum, with some impressive wins amongst some disappointing losses. Not surprisingly, the game started out a hard-fought battle.

The first points were not scored until late in the first quarter when San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers hit John Phillips with a short one-yard touchdown (courtesy of Vine):

The Chiefs countered with an impressive touchdown by star running back Jamaal Charles during which he took a huge hit that spun him through the air (Vine):

Kansas City added a field goal but the Chargers took the lead back with this juggling 27-yard touchdown by stalwart tight end Antonio Gates to end the first half  up 14-10 (Vine):

The Chiefs stormed back to take the lead in the third quarter, first kicking a field goal before scoring on an 11-yard catch by fullback Anthony Sherman.

Down 20-14, Philip Rivers lead San Diego on a nice drive that stalled in the red zone, resulting in only a field goal. They tied the game with a late field goal by Novak, but Alex Smith drove them down the field to take a 23-20 lead with a 48-yard field goal with only 21 seconds left.

The Chargers desperately tried to march back, but the game was iced by an interception, giving the Chiefs a crucial AFC West upset.
