Champ Bailey Working Out For Lions Thursday
When the New Orleans Saints released longtime star cornerback Champ Bailey last week, many thought that the news might be the end of the 36-year-old’s remarkable career.
However, news just broke that he just may have another shot, as Detroit Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman has reported that Bailey is working out for the Motor City squad today:

Bailey is reportedly not signing with the Lions just yet, as the team will most likely wait until after Week 1 when contracts are no longer guaranteed. He’s obviously lost a step since his All-Pro days, but he could provide a boost to a Lions secondary in need. The team is set to start Rashean Mathis and Darius Slay at cornerback, not exactly a dependable duo in the offensive-minded NFC North division.
Bailey started his career with the Washington Redskins, earning a reputation as one of the finest cover corners in the NFL before being traded to Denver for running back Clinton Portis. He’s arguably one of the best to ever lace up the cleats, but it appears that time is running out on the aging superstar.
Bailey certainly has nothing left to prove, but as we see year in and year out, old habits die hard. Stay tuned to TSM Plug for more news on Bailey’s contract situation as it arises.
