United have huge task at their hands when the host Bayern Munich for the Champions League quarter final 1st leg at Old Trafford, they will go into the match as huge underdogs.

Manchester United beat Aston Villa by 4-1 and it was a massive pressure off david moyes shoulders, now next assignment is ever bigger and difficult which is a double header against german and european champions Bayern Munich. The first leg will be played at Old Trafford which makes United task even more difficult.

Out of the last 8 teams, bookmakers has reduced United odds of winning the champions league to the lowest of all 8 teams which goes to show how much fear factor has gone. Manchester United vs Bayern Stream

Manchester United vs Bayern Munich 1st Leg Predictions:

On paper and on form this tie looks very easy for Bayern Munich, much easier than it seems but United might have a thing or two to say in the end. United will go into this match as huge under dogs and they are not use to it, with Van Persie out of the squad through injury Rooney has to produce one of his greatest performances to get United in lead and have somthing to play for in the return leg.

I am going with an easy for for Bayern Munich in both legs, they have too much talent in the middle of the part to let United get anywhere near goal. 2-0 1st leg and easy home win for Bayern.

  • Rohit

With the support of the fans at Old Trafford United will put up a good fight..it wont be a walk in the park for Bayern

    • Sameer

Well as things stand it should be a walk in the park for Bayern, United need to win the first leg to stand any chance.

      • Rohit

United will concede goals but they will score as well got enough in attack to get at bayern especially at home

  • Matt Noel

Preferred formation @ 4-2-3-1 = incisive counter attack at pace when chances are created!!!!!!!

    De Gea

    Rafael – Vidic – Jones – Buttner

*(Smalling is not fully fit + Evra is suspended for the first leg)

    Carrick/Fletcher – Giggs

*(Carrick for his passing ability or Fletcher with his all round game + work rate is good enough to partner Giggs = Senior players in the middle of the park is a must!)

    Kagawa – Rooney – Januzaj

*[all dovetailing amongst each other like Mata - Kagawa - Rooney (& to a lesser/less effective effect, Young) did against Villa]

    & Chicharito

    ***
Welbeck, Fellaini, Carrick/Fletcher, Valencia, and Young can be called off the bench as / when it’s suitable; & Young only if he proved himself at training, as he is a definite weak link and *irritatingly* a Moyes favourite/staple this season)….

    • Sameer

giggs in midfield ? it will be s suicide by united. Well thats what I think.

      • Matt Noel

Considering he’s our most experienced; & definitely one of our fittest players *still* (just check his stats @ Uefa.com/Opta); more so considering his recent cameos, including our 3-0 comeback win at OT, players like him need to be involved for games of this magnitude…

Remember it’s Moyes who keeps ignoring him, just as he does Kagawa!

& both these players deserve better!….They both need to start, moreover Mata is cup tied so we’ve automatically lost one creative outlet.

Think most can agree that Giggs best not start every game; best look to the seasons past on how SAF + Backroom team took care of the likes of Giggs, RVP, Ferdinand, et al; but we have to utilise him all the same. What better endorsement than Guardiola himself stating that Giggs is still a world class player and a threat to Bayern in these two games!

      • Matt Noel

+ in this formation stated above, he has cover in defence + midfield, can be a dynamic 4-4-1-1 / 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1, with Rooney + Chicharito best left to counter / press Bayern further up the field alongside Kagawa + Januzaj who also have a solid work rate, as he’s proved with Dortmund, Japan and United (as/when he’s been given a chance, though a run of games has eluded him; he’s not had a run of games since SAF last season)…

  • Matt Noel

If his tactics are his usual playing it safe, ala old Everton style; wingers orientated @ some variation of the standard 4-4-2; + bayern attack us the way city & liverpool did, then we’re in for a rough night…but if he’s willing to match Guardiola tactically, & we knick a result @ home, only then we might be in with a shock result, as we seem to be quite well set-up away from home for whatever reason…

  • Lamin Sonko

Smalling is nadh a good solution so y not jones
