Premier League fans might get to see Lione Messi playing in premier league come 2014-15 season, new contract talks has been stalled and Messi does not look happy. Money is not the issue, Messi’s problem is Barcelona no longer think of him as unsaleable asset.

Lionel Messi transfer to Premier League

Lionel Messi was not himself in the current season, though alot is down to his injury crisis at the start of the season but since returning back from injury he is struggling to regain full match sharpness and form. Barcelona will probably end the season empty handed, out of champions league, lost the copa del rey final against Real Madrid and 7 points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Spanish press has be slatting Messi over his performances in the last couple of weeks, in the 2nd leg of champions league quarter final against Atletico, Messi only ran more than Barcelona keeper which goes to show either he is not fully match fit or he is not playing with full heart. As the speculations are growing, once can believe somthing is going backstage.

Messi’s new contract talks are stalled and according to quite well-informed catalan sports channel (Esport3) Messi is not longer unsaleable entity in barcelona squad, which of course Messi dont like.

New Contract Talks Are Stalled ?

The slight hint is that PSG are ready to pounce by splashing out £205 million on messi buy-out clause, in the summer window 2014. But Messi who has been at Barcelona since the age of 13 is not ready to leave. But the fact that Barcelona are reluctant to offer him extension on his current contract which runs out til 2018, is bothering Messi.

A month ago reports were surfacing that Barcelona are ready to match Lionel Messi annual salary demand of £20.5m a year, but they wanted half of his image rights which Messi owns 100% at the moment. But since his return from injury he does not look like the same player which is making the club think twice before offering new deal to four time ballon d’or winner. How much truth is there in the speculations is anybody’s guess. But if Barcelona does listen to offers which clubs are able to match the transfer fee, which will surely be the record breaking one ?

Assuming Barcelona are Ready to Sell Messi, Which club Can Afford Him ?

When we talk about Messi tranfer, we are talking about more than £200-£250 million transfer fee plus a bumper weekly salary. He is just at the right age and any club buying him can get atleast 3 of Messi at his peak. Financial position wise only PSG, Man City, Real Madrid and Chelsea can match what Barcelona would want for Messi. But Real Madrid unthinkable, Will Messi play in France ? I don’t think so. English football is somthing where he can test himself and Manchester City has the cash. Not sure how they will go about the FIFA fair play regulations, While another options is Pep Guardiola connection and a route to Munich. There is another factor to consider, Lionel Messi is the most high profile athlete Adidas endorses, so they might have a say in the transfer as well.

Idealy they would want Messi to move to a club which has a contract with Adidas so that leave out Man City, PSG and any other Nike club interested in the transfer. Bayern Munich and Chelsea are with Adidas.
