I never comment on sites I read in passing like this, but the Liverpool starting lineup you give in this article is so shocking that I had to say something.

You claim to be a ‘Professional Sports Columnist’, but this lineup you give completely contradicts that. First of all, Brad Jones is out injured, and Kolo Toure is playing at the African Cup of Nations – right there, 2 of the 11 you’ve listed are not even available for selection. You list 3 defenders here – Toure (not available), Enrique, and Manquillo. Are you proposing that Rodgers will play with a back 3 comprised of 1 CB, a RB and a LB? Skrtel and Emre Can will be left on the bench I suppose, as well as Sakho if he’s fit? The lineup you give has no other defender, so a back 4 is ruled out and I can only assume that is the defensive setup you’re claiming we will see. Next, the midfield…we have Henderson and Gerrard as our 2 CMs here. It looks like Lucas, who has been our best player over the past few months, will be on the bench according to your sources, allowing Gerrard to return to a role he doesn’t play effectively. Rounding out the squad are 5 attackers – Sturridge and Lambert are strikers, so you must have intel that we’re switching to play with 2 up front. That leaves Coutinho, Markovic and Sterling. The only possible way to fit them in would be to put Markovic and Sterling at the wing-back roles, playing Coutinho in the hole behind the strikers.

So you claim that, in this huge game against a team just above us in the table, Liverpool have decided to adjust the formation that has worked so well for us and leave out 3 men who have been key to our recent form, namely Skrtel, Can and Lucas, and we will switch from 1 striker to 2 so that we can bring in the misfiring Lambert to partner Sturridge, pushing the huge threat that is Raheem Sterling out to a wing-back role so that he can be less dangerous, and to top it off we will be dismantling our newly revived defense, banishing ALL THREE of our CB starters to the bench in favor of Toure, who is in Africa, and Manquillo and Enrique who are not CBs, and for good measure we will take out Mignolet and replace him with the injured Brad Jones. And how could I forget to mention, the in-form Alberto Moreno also loses his place in the team despite his excellent recent performances.

I would very much appreciate a response from you, Mr. Jahin, to my comment, so I can read an explanation of how a supposed professional could feel that it’s appropriate to write and post an article like this.

Yes, you mentioned that right thing but you it’s really quiet hard to publish possible lineups before the match and usually tsmplug write down best XI of a team. However, thanks for your valuable comment and we will think about this.

I beg to differ – with about 5 minutes of research an accurate lineup can be predicted. You can discover that Rodgers has been fairly consistent with his lineups as of late, and then assess any injuries to see where it would differ from the previous game. It is of course difficult to get the lineup exactly right, but an accurate guess can be made easily. In this case, a likely lineup would be Mignolet, Skrtel Can Sakho, Moreno Markovic, Henderson Lucas, Sterling Coutinho Sturridge – the only doubts there are if Sakho ends up not being fit and if Sturridge doesn’t play from the start, in which case Johnson/Lovren and Gerrard would come in.

You say that TSMPlug usually writes down the best XI of a team…what you have written is not Liverpool’s best 11, and seems to have no regard for the formation, not to mention the fact that 2 of the players listed are unavailable for selection. I also notice that your starting lineup for West Ham only has 10 players…you’ve left out Adrian, the goalkeeper, and there doesn’t appear to be a striker.

I understand and sympathize with the fact that this is only 1 page of your website, and one game of many, and you may not be particular fans of either team or care about the game. But, I say again, if you are going to call yourself a Professional then you need to have a higher standard than this. It literally would take the average person 5 or less minutes to create a reasonably accurate lineup based on starting lineups of the past few games and injury reports, as I said earlier. And no, I won’t even get into the spelling and grammatical mistakes in this article, which are also unacceptable at the Professional level.
