The Blue side of The Mersey played host to Arsene Wenger’s Gunners today, as Arsenal travelled to Goodison Park on the second weekend of the 2014 EPL. Everton vs Arsenal Recap and Video Highlights
First half: The game starts off rather scrappy, both sides are loose with possession but Everton are looking confident. Early substitute as Pienaar comes off for Osman.
18 mins: Seamus Coleman opens the scoring with a great header at the far post. It’s 1-0 to the Toffees and Arsenal look stunned. Mirallas was almost able to follow up and make it 2-0 at the 20-minute mark. Everton looking strong on the counter attack in the first half, and Arsenal looking rather slow.
Ozil and Wilshere started well, but towards the end of the first half they had begun looking disjointed. Lukaku gets away from the Arsenal defense, and Steven Naysmith sneaks in a 45th minute goal! Everton go in to half time with a great 2-0 lead.

Second Half: Arsenal need to pull their socks up here, a repeat of the first 45 minutes won’t do. Giroud replaces Sanchez for the second half. Another scrappy start for Arsenal, as Jack Wilshere picks up a yellow card for a foul on Gareth Barry. Giroud skys a chance to grab one back, and Everton are passing very well indeed. Arsenal start to stretch the game, but their attacking work lacks substance.
Giroud comes very close at the 65th minute, and Arsenal really need to turn it up. Everton seem sontent to sit back and run down the clock. Giroud again, but Howard saves. Campbell replaces Oxlade Chaimberlain, Wilshere replaced by Cazorla, Lukaku replaced by McGeedy. Yellow card for Mathieu Flamini. Ramsey grabs a poacher;s effort in the 83rd minute!
