Premier League and European giants Chelsea will make the trip to  Turf Moor this Monday August 18th, as they prepare to take on newly promoted Burnley on the third day of the 2014-15 Barclay’s Premier League season. The Blues won’t have a walk in the park though, as the Clarets showed that they are capable of exceptional football during their last season in the Championship.

Here’s my prediction for the Burnley vs Chelsea starting lineups in the lead up to their Barclay’s Premier League clash:

Burnley vs Chelsea – 2014-15 Premier League

18 August 2014 20:00 UKtime Sky Sports Turf Moor, Burnley

Chelsea squad news: There is a battle going on between the posts at Chelsea, as Thiabau Courtois and Petr Cech try to make claim to the goalkeeper position for the London giants. Cech has long been the number one for the club, but given the amount of bench time Courtois has taken, I feel his time will come at the start of Blues vs Burnley on Monday. The resurgent Didier Drogba is reported to be near fitness after an ankle injury, but expect him to fill a spot on the substitutes bench while Diego Costa fills the CF role. New signing Fabregas fills a void in midfield, and expect an overall attacking style from Jose Mourinho’s superb-looking outfield squad.

Burnley squad news: New signings Lukas Jutkiewicz, Michael Kightly, Steven Reid, Marvin Sordell and Matt Taylor will all be keen to make their club debuts for the Clarets against Chelsea, and with striker Sam Vokes out injured, look for Jutkiewicz to be utilized straight away. The squad is fit and ready to go, and will need to adopt a thoroughly gritty mindset to overcome the pure talent that the Blues have on tap. Defender Ben Mee recently signed an extension on his contract, and striker Danny Ings will look to better his 22-goal record from last season.

Keys to victory for Chelsea: Don’t get complacent! Although Burnley are newcomers to the Barclay’s Premier League this season, that should be all the more reason to respect their abilities. Sitting back and thinking you can walk through Burnley would be a fatal mistake, especially on their home Soil.

Keys to victory for Burnley: Hold that fort, use your hard-nosed defensive line to give the talented Chelsea forwards hell for every second. Get the crowd on your side, and if you can hold the blues off for the most part of the game (as difficult as that may seem) a last minute goal could end a fairy tale first game for the Clarets in the big show.

Match prediction: It’s always hard to pick against the big, and root for the little guy, and that doesn’t change here. Jose Mourinho’s super IX will put on a striking clinic this Monday, and will give the Clarets a rather large dose of reality. Fresh out of the frying pan and in to the fire for Burnley, as they get burned by Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and late substitute Didier Drogba
