Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas pulled off a 6-4 3-6 6-3 win over Ausralia’s Matthew Ebden in the first round of the Dubai Duty Free Championships on Tuesday.

The No. 5 seed served 7 aces and was a dominant force on his first serve, winning as many as 92 per cent of the points off it during the battle that lasted one hour and 44 minutes.

It wasn’t all that smooth for the 20-year-old though.

Tsitsipas, who earned his biggest career win by stunning 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer at the Australian Open earlier this year, couldn’t keep a check on his emotions.

After being broken early in the third set, he appeared disappointed with himself as he animatedly screamed during a changeover.

Tsitsipas quickly regrouped thereafter as he went on to earn a match-winning break later in the set.

He is next scheduled to face little-known Egor Gerasimov of Belarus on Wednesday.
