WATCH: Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka’s bromance after Rotterdam Open final

It wasn’t your usual ATP final at the Rotterdam Open. Not in terms of the on-court tussle. But, in terms of the atmosphere after the contest.
Gael Monfils prevailed 6-3 1-6 6-2 over good friend Stan Wawrinka on Sunday to win his first ATP title in 13 months. And the duo, didn’t shy away from showing off their bromance on court after battling out for one hour and 44 minutes.
After sharing a hug at the net, Monfils and Wawrinka shared some lighter moments before apparently continuing their conversation as the presentation ceremony took place.
“Stan, you know I love you, you’re my brother,” Monfils was quoted as saying by UbiTennis. “This win is a part of him. We have been practising a lot, we’ve been talking a lot during the winter.”
“You (Wawrinka) told me that if I didn’t win one of the tournaments you would stop practising with me. Sorry I beat you in the final.”
Wawrinka, who made his first final since undergoing a knee surgery last year, sounded pretty content with how the week shaped up for him.
“It’s always tough to lose in a final, especially in a final like tonight,” the Swiss said.
“But if I had to lose to someone, it would be to you Gael. You’re a close friend and I’m really happy for you.
“This was my first final since my surgery. It was a special week.”
