Western Australia captain Hilton Cartwright will probably remember the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales forever.

Not that he made a memorable contribution with the bat, but because of his bizarre dismissals in both innings of the contest that ended on Tuesday.

While Cartwright’s bizarre reverse sweep off Steve O’Keefe landed straight into Trent Copeland’s hands in the first innings, his dismissal in the second innings was way uncanny.

Having scored just runs in 45 balls, Cartwright finally found a scoring opportunity after leg-spinner Jason Sangha pitched one short.

He did nothing wrong by rocking back to unleash a pull, only for the ball to hit the helmet of short leg fielder Nick Larkin.

The cherry bounced off the helmet, went up in the air before being caught by Sangha himself.

According to reports, Larkin was fine and stayed put on field after doctor’s attention and a change of helmet.

New South Wales went on to win the contest by an innings and 51 runs.
