Following MS Dhoni’s retirement from Test cricket, Virat Kohli was named India’s captain for the longest format of the game.

This didn’t go down well with many, who believed that the latter’s aggression will not make him a proficient successor of the former. But, Glenn McGrath insists that India’s Test future is in safe hands.

“You want a leader who is strong, who wouldn’t take a backward step, who would lead by example. I think Virat has held himself in good control at the moment,” McGrath was quoted as saying by OneIndia.

The 45-year-old further lauded Kohli’s competency to back up his aggression on field by amassing runs under crucial circumstances.

“I like the way he has gone about it. He can back it up with runs with the bat. I think Virat has held himself in good control at the moment.

“I like the way he has gone about it. He can back it up with runs with the bat. He’s a class batsman.”
