They scored 286 runs in their first innings but the Lions got all out by scoring just 205 runs but they avoided the follow – on. Later, in the second innings, South Africa made 406 runs where Stephen Cook made a century. They declared the innings. But, chasing such runs, the Lions again lost all wickets within 281 runs. So, they were lost by almost 206 runs.

In 2nd Test at Cape Town, the Lions won the toss and came to field in 2nd January, 2017. The Proteas scored 392 runs in their 1st innings where the Lions lost their complete wickets within only 110 runs. But, in that case, also, they avoided follow – on. But, this time, Sri Lanka could not avoid follow – on where they got all out by scoring just 131 runs. So, came to bat in second innings, they scored just 177 runs. So, they could not avoid the shame but faced a terrible whitewash.

In every cases, Sri Lanka fallen into batting accidents. So, it seems that their batting line up is not worthy enough and Sri Lankan cricket board should bring some change. They are suffering for experts batsmen. Though, they have still some rising talents in their squad but they are almost new. Besides, Sri Lanka has proved that their bowling side is still very good. So, if they can solve their batting issue, they would be one of the best balanced team.
