Petra Kvitova has opened up on the experience of meeting retired tennis star Monica Seles.

Kvitova was attacked by a burglar a couple of years back that kept her out of competition for several months after having to undergo a surgery to her left wrist. Seles, during her playing days, was attacked mid-match in 1993.

“We met each other and decided we were looking to talk about what we’d been through,” Kvitova was quoted as saying ahead of this week’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

“It was nice to meet someone who has been through something very similar.

“It was a big surprise that she wanted to talk with me and say nice words. It was one of the biggest things I’ve ever heard and from such a legend, to hear what happened to her.

“With my experience, I am not sure if I am going to be 100 percent one day and I’m not sure if she is either.

“But hopefully she is happy and can enjoy her life as much as she can.”

Meanwhile, Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon champion, has had a decent 2019 so far.

The 28-year-old started off by winning the Sydney title before reaching the Australian Open final. And although she crashed out in the second round of St. Peterburg last month, she attained runner-up finish in Dubai recently.

Kvitova will face either Venus Williams or Andrea Petkovic in Indian Wells opener.
