Wrong Speed gun information makes another world record for 5 minutes

To measure the speed of the ball, Speed gun is been used for a long time now. It plays a vital role in keeping track of the speed and thus, its more or less thought to be a part of the match. However, in the end the speed gun is nothing more than a machine and thus a machine might get broke. However, since its a machine, there is always the probablity of getting the information wrong. And what happens, if the information taken is so rong that it makes a world record ? apparently that is what happened in the recent Australia match.

The record of the fastest ball belongs to Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akter who bowled a delivery over 161 km. We have see a couple bowlers going close with some 159.160km/s delivery. But the record is yet to be broken. However, on the running Australia test all on a sudden there was a reading off the chart and for a few minutes, those watching this thought they just saw a record. However, it didn’t take long for the announcement to come that the speed gun is showing wrong information as it might be broke.

The biggest shocker was who the bowler was. If it was Michel stark or someone fast then perhaps they wouldn’t think about checking the speed gun. But, the bowler who got that insane reading was someone who bowls only around 130 km/s.

here is the top three fastest balls and their bowlers –

  1. Shoaib Akhter, Pakistan – 161.3 km/s
  2. Shaun Teitt, Australia – 161.1 km/s
  3. Bret Lee, Australia – 160.8 km/s
