India began their World Cup campaign with a clinical six-wicket win over South Africa on Wednesday.

While the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal and Rohit Sharma were spot on for India, South Africa had themselves to blame for the defeat as well.

While their bowling line-up was exposed in absence of injured stars Dale Steyn and Lungi Ngidi, their batting order – post the retirement of AB de Villiers – is yet to consistently click. To add to their woes, they have been sloppy on field of late.

That was exactly the case for them against India. Off all the dropped catches though, there was one that stood out.

Fielding at cover, David Miller dropped an absolute sitter after Rohit Sharma miscued one off Kagiso Rabada. While the ball bouced off his reverse-cup, Miller could have grabbed it on the second attempt.

Wasn’t to be though, much to the surprise of Twitterati.

“How the heck did David Miller of all the players dropped that sitter of a catch,” one person questioned, while another one went ot the extent of calling it “match-fixing.”

“That is the worst dropped catch I have ever seen.”
