World Cup 2015: Who Will Win the Big Battle Between India – Pakistan? Sunil Gavaskar Predicts

India and Pakistan are all set to resume their rivalry, when the two teams lock horns at the World Cup 2015 on Sunday. The expectations are enormous from the both teams, for not only it is going to be a day full of enthralment for the fans, but also for the players, who leave no page blank to play above their skin whenever the two teams cross the swords.

Many foresee a stereotypical encounter, with the public places all set witness no one around, as the fans are vouching not to miss a single moment of the historic match that is scheduled to be held at the Adelaide.

Having pulled off all the previous five encounters, India hold a record of never being beaten by Pakistan in World Cup matches – the jinx that the latter team will look to end this time around.

Going by form, the teams have not been impressive of late. While Pakistan are facing a tough time in absence of their star bowler Saeed Ajmal, India have not really fired in the vivacious conditions Down Under.

However, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar opines that although both India will head in to the match as the favorites, Pakistan might spring off a surprise triumph.

“Both teams are not really in the best of form, so it’s possible for Pakistan to beat India,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

“Pakistan have just lost two matches in New Zealand. They haven’t really been on top of their game even in the United Arab Emirates.

“So, you can say that India may start as favorites because of the past records and India were a formidable unit when they played Sri Lanka and the West Indies at home.”
