World Cup 2015: An unbeaten 196-run stand between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni helped India overcome a spirited fight from Zimbabwe in Auckland on Saturday, as the defending champions widened their winning streak to 10 matches, second most at World Cups.

Earlier, Zimbabwe batsmen appeared clueless in the beginning, soon finding themselves in a wobbly position at 33-3. However, skipper Brendan Taylor – playing his last match before retirement – exhibited sheer finesse, playing a spectacular 138-run knock, and was involved in a pivotal stand with Sean Williams (50) that saw them amass 287 runs before being bundled out in the penultimate over of their innings.

For India, the pace-bowling trio of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma took 3 wickets each, while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a solitary scalp of Williams.

Not only did Zimbabwe astonish with the willow, but also showed up with a burly bowling performance. Much to their elation, India were reduced to 92-4 in the 23rd over. Their joy, however, was short-lived, as Raina (110*) and Dhoni (85*) showed nerves of steel to take their team to yet another triumph.

Up next, India are scheduled to meet Bangladesh in the last-eight stage, while Zimbabwe will be happy with their overall performance at the sport’s mega event.
