West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard has been fined 20 per cent of his match fees for disobeying umpire’s instructions during the second T20 International against India over the weekend.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) found Pollard guilty for breaching Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct. The all-rounder was also handed one demerit point, the ICC said in a statement.

The incident had happened during West Indies’ fielding, when Pollard called a substitute to replace him even as the on-field umpires – Nigel Duguid and Gregory Braithwaite – asked him to make a request first and wait till the end of the over.

Pollard initially denied doing so but was found guilty in a hearing involving match referee Jeff Crowe, the report adds.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old will look to shrug off the controversy when he takes field in the third and final T20I against India in Guyana on Tuesday.

India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.
