Unfortunately West Indies cricket team could not qualify for the main event of upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 directly. The main reason behind it was their performance went down and so, they demoted to the 9th position on the ICC ODI ranking. In upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, top eight teams have qualified for the main event directly and for the rest two places, now total ten teams have competed. It is called Cricket World Cup Qualifier round. West Indies is the top contender there. It is hard to believe that West Indies won the World Cup titles consecutive twice times but today, they have to pass qualifier round. In their 3rd match of the tournament, West Indies won by 52 runs against Ireland.

West Indies is always regarded as one of the powerful cricket team but since few years their performance went down. As a result they ruled out from the main event of the biggest cricket competition. But still they have chance and to ensure their entrance at upcoming World Cup, they have to qualify for the qualifier round.

West Indies is placed in the group A with four more teams name Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Netherlands and United Arab Emirates. They have already played three group stage matches here and now, the 4th match is waiting which will be against Netherlands in 12th March, 2018.

Among five participants in group A, top points holder three teams will qualify for the next playoff round and it seems that West Indies have already passed the first test in the competition.

The 3rd match of West Indies which was against Ireland was executed in 10th March, 2018 at Harare Sports Club in Harare. In the match, Rovman Powell from West Indies made his first ODI century. However, earlier Ireland won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Windies came to bat for the first time in the match and played full 50 overs there. The team West Indies scored 257 runs where Rovman Powell scored 101 runs in 100 balls so far. They lost total eight wickets where Tim Murtagh took four wickets for Ireland.

Later, Ireland came to bat and started to chase the score. Team Ireland is also good but comparatively they are weaker than Windies team. They failed to chase the score successfully and in 46.2 overs Ireland was being all out. They scored 205 runs in their innings. Ed Joyce scored 63 runs for Ireland highest. Kemar Roach took four wickets for West Indies.
