West Indies qualified for playoff

West Indies cricket team has currently finished their group stage in 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier round. They have played their last match against Netherlands and won the match. Through that West Indies qualified for playoff  round in the tournament. Besides, it was their 4th match in qualifier round where they won all four matches so far.

West Indies could not qualify for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 main event directly because their were not among the top eight list considering ICC ODI ranking. So, they have to qualify for the Cricket World Cup Qualifier round this time. They have participated there along with nine more teams and so, total ten teams are divided into two groups where each group contains five teams so far. West Indies is in group A along with some low rated team but also they have to be very careful and a wrong step could finish their dream of taking part in upcoming biggest event of cricket.

Now, they have passed the beginning stage and they are going to play the super six round along with the rest five qualifying teams. They have played total four matches in group stage which were against Ireland, United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea and Netherlands. Their last match was against Netherlands cricket team where the Dutch team are very poor in the format of cricket. Though, they played couple of times in World Cup but this time, they are ruled out from the qualifier round.

From group A, total three teams have qualified already where West Indies is in top position with 8 points so far. The rest two teams are Ireland and United Arab Emirates. Netherlands and Papua New Guinea were disqualified from the stage so far.

Netherlands won one match and lost three where in the last match they faced West Indies. The match was executed in 12th March, 2018 at Harare Sports Club in Harare. Earlier the match, Netherlands won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, West Indies came to bat and due to rain they did not play full overs but finished their innings in 48 overs so far. They lost six wickets and scored 309 runs in the meantime. Evin Lewis scored highest 84 runs so far for Windies team.  Later, rain affected the match heavily and so, Netherlands were given target of 222 runs in 28.4 overs. But they could not make the chase successful and finished their innings scoring 167 runs in 28.4 overs. Ryan ten Doeschate scored undefeated 67 runs for Netherlands in the match. But player of the match award went to Evin Lewis from the West Indies team.
