Rishabh Pant was at his aggressive best on Monday night as he smashed 78 not out of just 36 balls to help Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets in an Indian Premier League game in Jaipur.

After Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 105 helped Rajasthan amass 191-6 in 20 overs, Delhi got off to a good start via openers Shikhar Dhawan (54) and Prithvi Shaw (42). Pant’s belligerent knock, that included six fours and four sixes, then ensured Delhi chased down the target with four balls to spare.

No wonder, the southpaw was lifted in the air by team coach and ex-India captain Saurav Ganguly at the end of the run-fest.

“It was a very special moment when you finish a match like that for our team,” Pant later told Shaw during an interaction.

“We keep talking about how we have to finish the match and win the match for our team (Delhi Capitals), so it was a very good experience, especially after I came out after the match and the love I received from everyone, especially when Sourav Sir lifted me in the air, so it was a surreal experience.”

Pant and company, who are now standing at the top of the table, will hope to continue the rich vein of form when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.
