The Tigers won by 137 runs against Sri Lanka

The 14th edition of Asia Cup is going on. In the tournament the five regular teams of Asian Cricket Council took part and Hong Kong just joined with them because they won the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier tournament. Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were placed into group B where the inaugural match of the tournament took place in 15th September, 2018. The match was hosted between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and in the match, The Tigers won by 137 runs against Sri Lanka.

In 15th September, 2018 the tournament started and the opening match was executed between the Tigers and the Lions. Team Bangladesh got an amazing victory over the Lions in the match. It was a day/ night competition which took place at the ground of Dubai. Team Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first in the match. Bangladesh wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim made an amazing century and alone he led the team to a handsome total. He scored 144 runs and so, the Tigers managed to score 261 runs in 49.3 overs. Lasith Malinga who was the Lions top rated bowler came to the national team after long time and he took highest four wickets in the match against Bangladesh.

Team Sri Lanka started to chase the score but the bowling lines of the Tigers were quite strong. So, the Lions faced batting disaster in the match. They getting all out scoring just 124 runs so far. This was the lowest total of the Lions against bangladesh in ODI competition.

Tamim Iqbal came to open the innings for Bangladesh with Liton Das. The performance of Liton is not so good but BCB gave him the chance. He made a 0 runs there where Tamim returned to the dressing room by getting injured. Besides, Shakib Al Hasan also scored a 0 run there. He faced just 1 ball. Later, Mushfiq and Mohammad Mithun started to play quite carefully. They added more than 130 runs jointly. Mithun scored 63 runs so far. At the end of the crease, no one could give better company to Mushfiq but he played quite strongly. He fought to the last and finally Tamim once again returned to the game and gave company to Mushfiq. He played with one hand. Finally Mushfiq scored 144 runs. In 49.3 overs team Bangladesh lost all wickets and scored 261 runs so far.

Sri Lanka failed to chae the score but couple of batsmen scored more than 20 runs but no one could make longer innings there. Tharanga scored 27 runs, Perera scored 29 runs and Lakmal added 20 runs so far.
