The Tigers lost the only warm up match in New Zealand tour

Bangladesh has started the New Zealand tour with bad luck. They lost their first and only warm up match against New Zealand XI. They lost by three wickets according to D/N methods but could learn from them many things.

Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim scored runs in the match where the famous all – rounder Shakib Al Hasan has got number of wickets so far. The key pacer of the Tigers Mustafizur Rahman also took two wickets so far. So, though they lost the match, but if they able to use their experiences which they got from them, they would win against the Black Caps in next match.

The warm up match had started almost 30 minutes late due to rain and in the middle of the first innings, rain started again. So, the game over was reduced to 43. Team bangladesh scored 245 runs by losing nine wickets at the end of 43 overs. The score was minimum and New Zealand XI started to chase it carefully. They finally succeeded and scored 245 runs by playing 41.4 overs with seven wickets. Mustafiz took first wicket at his opening over but visitors failed to keep it continuously.

After losing their first wicket, Smith and Popli started to dominate the travellers. Smith scored fifty and Popli scored 45 runs so far. Shakib Al Hasan made an important breakthrough and he took three important wickets along with skipper McConchie with his zero run. The match was so important for the Tigers bowlers to learn to use their weapons. So, Mashrafe used different bowlers along with a new leg spinner Tanbir Hayder. He bowled highest nine overs but did not make any wicket but gave 59 runs so far though he missed couple of chance to take wickets.

Later, Shipley & Horne started to play again when Mustafiz took his second wicket Shipley but Horne was remain undefeated.

Earlier the day, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost the top hitter Tamim Iqbal when team run was just seven. Later, Kayes, Soumya, Mahmudullah all three batsman scored a minimum runs and Mushfiqur scored highest 45 runs so far.

Now, the Tigers will start their main tournament in next 26th December, 2016 against New Zealand and first they will play ODI series.
