Sydney Thunder missed last chance to get qualify for BBL semi final

Sydney Thunder is the current champion of Big Bash League by winning last season of this most exciting T20 competition. But, in the ongoing sixth season of BBL, they could not pass the group stage and already finished their season in this league cricket. They have completed total eight matches in this league cricket but made victory only three times. Their last match was staged yesterday and if they could manage a victory, they might get a chance to qualify for the semi final. But, also the matter was not almost certain. However, their last match was against Adelaide Strikers which was ranked in last position on BBL 2016/17 point table yesterday but winning over the Thunder, they replacing their position where Thunder is currently in last position. But, getting this victory would not help Strikers to get them into semi final. They just won three matches out of eight.

Earlier in yesterday evening, Adelaide Strikers faced Sydney Thunder at the home venue of Thunder. So, as usual, Thunder was regarded as the favourite and they were desperate to move to the semi final by winning the match. Besides, Thunder won the toss and decided to field. That was the first match of 8th round in BBL 2016/17. However, came to bat, Strikers did not make a good start but lost their first wicket Ludeman when the team score was just 21. But later, Dunk and Hodge made a strong partnership which added almost more 90 runs to the scoreboard. Dunk scored highest 65 runs. Watson made a breakthrough by taking Dunk. Within next 17 runs, Hodge was out by Watson again. Mainly Watson was the one who tied them within 178 runs. The score was not too much high but obviously a challenging score.

Came to chase such score, Thunder lost their first wicket Vince in 1.2 overs when their score was just 2. They failed to make a good start and also their run rate was almost poor at the first stage. Later, Watson tried to make some shot and scored highest 39 runs for the team. After his out, the match had lef away from Thunder. Finally, they got all out by playing just 15.3 overs and score was 101. So, they lost by 77 runs in their last match in 6th season of BBL.
