Sydney Thunder is scheduled already to play their next match against Melbourne Renegades in next 22nd December, 2016 and they are desperate this time after losing their inaugural match in BBL 2016/17 against Sydney Sixers in last 20th December. It will be their second match in this ongoing sixth season of BBL and the match will be hosted in Etihad Stadium. So, BBL has a most exciting match ahead where Sydney Thunder is regarded as the favourite. Though, considering their head to head statistics, Melbourne is still in better position where they totally played five times till now where Thunder won only once in January, 2014. Last time they played in fifth edition of BBL where Thunder was defeated by five wickets. But they failed to to them to claim the title last time.

Besides, Sydney Thunder is the current champion of BBL and they took the title once but Renegades did not win a BBL title yet to reached semi final highest in 2012/13 season. In last three seasons of BBL, Renegades showed consistently poor performances and last season they finished with fifth position.

Melbourne Renegades is suffering from batting problem and can not fix it since long. Last season Windies mercurial batsman Chris Gayle was in their batting line up but failed to score a single fifty in the whole tournament. So, this time they have replaced him. Now, they have Aaron Finch and Cameron White along with Tom Cooper and another West Indies all – rounder Dwayne Bravo. Now, if they able to play according to their ability, then the match would be tough for Thunder.

On the other hand, Sydney Thunder has tested a horror start in the inaugural match on BBL 2016/17 where their middle order batsmen were collapsed but they scored a large runs. Due to bad luck, and for their bowlers, they could not win the match. Besides, they have some tremendous batsmen as well like Andre Russell.

However, hosting ground is holding some facility where the match is going to be hosted at Docklands Stadium. If any team which will come to bat first should make at least 170 runs to make a minimum challenge to the opponent. And also this ground has a negative impact to the Renegades that they failed to win any single match in this ground last season. So, every possibility goes to the Sydney Thunder.
