Sydney Thunder beat Sixers by 5 wickets

Big Bash League is one of the most prestigious league cricket competition in the World which is originated in Australia. Already sixth season of the competition has passed successfully and this is the 7th season of KFC Big Bash which is now going on. Total eight teams have competed here this season where Perth Scorchers is the defending champion. However, considering the schedule of BBL 07, first match of the ongoing season was staged between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunders. In the match, Sydney Thunder beat Sixers by 5 wickets.

Sydney Thunder beat Sixers by 5 wickets

Sydney Thunder won the toss and let Sixers to bat first. Sixers scored 149 runs by losing nine wickets at first where Sam Billings scored highest 32 runs. In return, by playing complete 20 overs, Sydney Thunder reached the destination and in order to do so, they lost five wickets so far. Shane Watson scored highest 77 runs for Thunder. So, the first match was won by Thunder.

The match between Thunder and Sixers was staged at Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney where the attendance number were 21,589. Gerard Abood and Phillip Gillespie were the two field umpires of the match. At the end, Shane Watson was announced as the player of the match due to his brilliant innings.

Jason Roy and Hughes started the innings for Sixers but in just 16 runs, their opening partnership was broken. It was McClenaghan who took the first and most important wicket named Roy in just 2 runs. Later, Maddinson came and joined with Hughes. They added almost 40 runs more to the scorecard where Maddinson scored 31 runs and gone by Fawad Ahmed. Hughes scored 29 runs so far. Henriques was the skipper of Sydney Sixers who scored just 13 runs. Players got few runs but could not make any long lasting bond there. Sam Billings tried and unfortunately got run out. He could score some more than current. Finally in selected 20 overs, Sydney Sixers scored 149 runs in exchange for nine wickets. Nair, Fawad Ahmed and McClenaghan took highest two wickets each for Thunder.

In return, Patterson and Buttler started the innings for Thunder but in just 1 run, Buttler was gone when it seemed that they could not chase the score. But later, Patterson and Shane Watson started to play very carefully. They made several shots specially Watson. Patterson used much balls but Watson played 46 balls and scored 77 runs highest. He made six 4’s and six 6’s in his innings. After his departure, there was few more runs left and the rest players did the job pretty well. They had to play complete 20 overs to reach the destination. Sams took highest four wickets for Sixers.
