Sydney Thunder beat Scorchers by 3 runs

The first match of round seven in ongoing season of Big Bash League competition was between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers. It was the 25th number match in the season of BBL where Sydney Thunder beat Scorchers by 3 runs. Perth Scorchers which is the most potential franchise team in BBL and also the most successful team. They won the BBL title number of times and in the ongoing season of BBL, they are in great form. They have started the season of BBL with victory and also still grabbing the top position on the point table. Including their last match against Thunder, they played total seven matches and managed five victories. It could be their 6th victory but Sydney Thunder stopped them successfully.

On the other hand, Sydney Thunder is currently a lower ranked team though they are full of surprise. They have also strong and balanced team but in the season, they are passing bad time. Including their last match, they managed just three victories by playing seven matches and lost all four times.

In the 25th match of the season of BBL which was staged at Spotless Stadium, Sydney in 11th January, 2018 Sydney Thunder won the toss and came to bat first. They scored 175 runs in 20 overs where they lost only four wickets. The presented score was good enough but against Scorchers, they could chase it considering their recent form. But in return, Perth Scorchers finished their innings with 172 runs in 20 overs. They too lost four wickets so far.

Khawaja and Patterson opened the innings for Sydney Thunder and considerably made a reliable score. Their partnership was broken in 45 runs when they lost Patterson who scored 14 runs so far. Later, Watson joined with Khawaja and added 21 runs. Later, Ferguson came up but in 138 runs Khawaja was gone with 85 runs. He faced 51 balls and made four 6’s and eight 4’s. Ferguson scored 25 runs and rest two players Rohrer and Nair remained not out with 22 and 4 runs respectively.

On the other side, Perth Scorchers started their innings with Bosisto and Klinger. They scored 9 and 4 runs. First two wickets were gone in 25 runs. Just after seven runs 3rd wickets Turner was gone. He was being lbw by Sandhu. In 35 runs, captain Voges was gone as well. Since then they made the match difficult. Bancroft and Cartwright played till the last but could not bring the victory. Bancroft scored 75 runs and Cartwright scored 65 runs so far. Their innings finished with 172 runs so far.
