Sydney Sixers won by 5 wickets against Stars

Sydney Sixers is one of the most favourite participants in ongoing season of Big Bash League competition and since the inaugural season of the competition, they used to take part in every time. But like in the current season, they did not face so many defeat earlier. Since the last couple of match, they started to win but it was already too late. They played their last match which was the 10th match of Sixers in the season of BBL against Melbourne Stars. In the match, Sydney Sixers won by 5 wickets against Stars.

By playing total ten matches in the season of Big Bash League, Sydney Sixers just managed four victories out there. So, they are placed in 5th position on the BBL point table and they almost have no chance to qualify for knockout phase. On the other hand, Melbourne Stars which franchise team consists of plenty of talented players passing very bad time and by playing total nine match including the match against Sixers, they just managed one victory.

However, the last match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers was the 2nd meeting between this two teams in the season of BBL. In the first match between them, Sixers beat the Stars and so, it was the 2nd victory for Sixers against the same opponent.

The match was taken place in 23rd January, 2018 and Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney was the host arena of the match. The match was a day/ night competition where earlier Sixers won the toss and decided to bowl first against Stars. So, came to bat stars played really well and presented a big score which was 189 runs in front of Sixers. The score was almost impossible to chase for Sixers. Maxwell scored highest 84 runs in 47 balls. But in return, by playing 17.3 overs Sixers reached the destination successfully. Joe Denly scored highest 72 runs in 45 balls and remained not out. So, Sydney Sixers won by 5 wickets in the day.

Openers of Melbourne Stars did not make any long bond but partnership between Maxwell and Quiney, they added more than 100 runs which led them to a great total. Quiney scored 36 runs highest which was 2nd highest. Later, Faulkner and Gulbis ended the innings with 21 and 14 runs respectively.

Opener Hughes for Sixers was flop in the day but Denly and Maddinson played destructively where Denly scored 72 runs and Maddinson scored 61 runs so far. Denly came to open the innings and played till the last and remained not out. Henriques scored 21 runs and Botha scored 14 runs for the team. Finally, Denly and Nevill left the ground with victory after losing five wickets.
