Sydney Sixers was defeated by 6 wickets

The new season of Big Bash League has started already and according to the calculation, it is the 7th season of BBL. The first round of the season of BBL has finished already and now the time has come for the 2nd season where in the first match of second season of BBL was staged between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. It was the 2nd match of Sixers but to Scorchers, it was the first match in the ongoing season. In the match, Sydney Sixers was defeated by 6 wickets against Perth Scorchers.

The match between Sixers and Scorchers was taken place in 23rd December, 2017 and the host ground was Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. The two field umpires were Geoff Joshua and Rod Tucker. In the match, Perth Scorchers won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Sixers came to bat but unfortunately they did not able to play whole 20 overs but got all out in 18.4 overs. They scored 132 runs in their innings. In T20 competition, the score was so mere and not enough to beat the defending champion of BBL. By losing four wickets, Perth Scorchers reached the destination by playing 18.1 overs. Ashton Turner remained not out with his 52 runs innings for Scorchers. So, by playing two matches in the season of BBL, Sydney Sixers was defeated both times and the defending champion made a good start in the season.

However, the batting squad of Sydney Sixers seemed very balanced where Jason Roy and Hughes started the innings but Hughes scored 7 runs and Roy scored 19 runs so far. Maddinson played a bit well but not enough to lead the team to a good total. He scored 31 runs highest. Top orders and middle orders of the team were failed completely or in other word we can say that Scorchers bowled very well and tied them within few runs. Lower orders like Nevill scored 18 runs, O’Keefe scored 23 runs and Sams scored 23 runs so far for Sixers. Finally in 18.4 overs, their innings finished with 132 runs where Tye took highest four wickets where Johnson, Richardson and Willey took two wickets each for Scorchers.

Coming to chase the score which was given by Sixers, Scorchers started overall good but in 31 runs opening partnership was broken. Bosisto was gone with 21 runs. Top four wickets of Perth Scorchers did not play good but rest players named Turner and Voges played well and led the team to victory. They lost total four wickets where Abbott took three wickets for Sixers. Ashton Turner was announced as the player of the match due to his brilliant and unbeaten fifty.
