Sydney Sixers faced 3rd defeat in BBL

Sydney Sixers which is the current runner up of Big Bash League but in the ongoing season of BBL, Sydney Sixers is passing very bad time. They played their opening match against Sydney Thunder and being defeated. Their 2nd match was against the defending champion which was in round two. In the match, they faced another defeat. Now, in the 3rd round of the tournament, Sydney Sixers faced 3rd defeat in BBL against Adelaide Strikers.

Sydney Sixers faced 3rd defeat in BBL

The match between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers were the 1st match of round three and overall rating, it was the 9th match of the season of BBL. The match was taken place in 28th December, 2017 and the host ground was Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. Besides, it was a day/ night competition where Sydney Sixers won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision was so wise but their bowlers did not dominate the crease. Strikers scored 167 runs by losing three wickets at the 1st innings. Alex Carey scored 83 runs highest and remained not out. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers also played well but target was high enough for them to chase. They went close to the victory but at the end could not touch it. Their innings finished with 161 runs in 20 overs. They lost eight wickets so far. Jordan Silk scored highest 50 runs for the team Sixers.

Alex Carey and Weatherald opened the innings for Strikers but Weatherald got out with 0 runs. He faced only three balls. In the 1st wicket partnership, they added 58 runs when 2nd wicket Head was gone who scored 29 runs. But at the end of the crease, Carey remained strong. Just his partner used to change couple of times. He played with Ingram and Wells later where the innings finished with Wells who scored 33 runs. Bowlers of Sixers were so expensive in the match and were dominated by the batsmen almost. Dwarshuis took two wickets and Botha took one wicket for the Sixers.

On the other hand, Sixers stumbled at the beginning when they started to chase the score. Roy and Hughes also did not do much for the team where Roy scored 21 runs. Hughes and Maddinson scored 4 and 0 runs so far. Silk played a little well and claimed a half century. Basically their batsmen failed to do their job properly and so, their innings ended up with 161 runs in 20 overs. Strikers used six bowlers to destroy the Sixers batting line up.
