The seventh season of Big Bash League has already started which is regarded as one of the top league cricket competition in the cricket World. Besides, it is most popular T20 cricket competition as well where like all the rest of the years, total eight franchise teams have participated again. The 7th season of BBL has started in 19th December, 2017 and in the 4th match of the tournament, Adelaide Strikers faced Sydney Thunder. The match between them was staged in 22nd December where Adelaide Strikers beat Thunder by 53 runs.

It was the 2nd match of Sydney Thunder and they started their new season of BBL with victory but in the second match, their performance was not good enough against Strykers and as a result, they faced a big defeat. The match between them was hosted at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide where Adelaide Strikers won the toss and came to bat first. They scored 163 runs at first by losing six wickets in selected 20 overs where Alex Carey scored highest 44 runs. Later, came to chase the score Sydney Thunder finished their innings by scoring 110 runs in 17.4 overs. Their top scorer was Kurtis Patterson who scored 48 runs in 37 balls. So, Adelaide Strikers won by 53 runs.

Alex Carey and Weatherald started the innings for Adelaide Strikers but in just 10 runs, that partnership was broken. Weatherald got out with 8 runs who was being lbw. Later skipper Head came and made a pretty long and strong partnership with Carey. They added almost 80 runs to the scoreboard. Head was out with 36 runs where Carey was gone with 44 runs so far. Rest players added few runs each and most of them touched two figure runs. Finally in 20 overs their innings finished with 163 runs by losing six wickets. Nair took three wickets where McClenaghan took two wickets for Thunder.

Came to chase the score, Buttler and Patterson started the innings for Sydney Thunder. Buttler was gone with 10 runs. He faced just nine balls. But Patterson stood still and play strongly. He scored highest 48 runs for the team. Rest players did not give him proper company and as a result, in 17.4 overs the innings of Thunder got packet. They scored total 110 runs. Laughlin took four wickets highest where Rashid Khan and Siddle took two wickets each. Rashid Khan was announced as the player of the match at the end.
