Former New Zealand off-spinner John Bracewell heaped praise on India’s premier tweaker Ravichandran Ashwin, calling him the best DRS bowler in the world presently.

Bracewell, the current Ireland coach, further compared Ashwin with Australian offie Nathan Lyon, analysing that the former is more successful because he operates more in the tramline.

“Ashwin is a contrasting bowler when you compare him to a Lyon,” the 58-year-old was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

“Both are essentially off-spinners, but Ashwin bowls more in the tramlines, and he gets the ball to skid and drop cleverly,” he continued.

“He is very dextrous and is the best DRS bowler in the world because he bowls much straighter and hits the batsmen’s pads pretty regularly.”

Meanwhile, the Ashwin-Lyon rivalry has taken an intense turn in the ongoing four-match Test series between India and Australia that is currently locked at 1-1 after first two matches.

While Ashwin, without much surprise, has sizzled with 15 wickets so far, Lyon has also had a tremendous series, taking 13 wickets including an eight-for.
