Sri Lanka’s Emergency Coach Nico Pothas

But South African Ford left the job after one and a half years. Another South African Nic Pothas will be officiating as an emergency or interim coach in Sri Lanka. Former wicketkeeper-batsman Pothas is officiating as Sri Lanka’s fielding coach since August last year. He asked him to be the head coach of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.
Pothas will be in charge until next September as the emergency coach. Sri Lankan Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala said this. He said that Ford had left the job on mutual understanding. Ford was under pressure after Sri Lanka’s departure from the Champions League Group stage. In addition, some decision was made due to the decision of the due to tension with Board.

43-year-old Pothas is starting the head coach of Sri Lanka with the home series. The Sri Lankan’s are going to start the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The first one-day international on June 30. There is a test after this series. Prior to the role of Sri Lankan fielding coach Pothas was acting as the Academy Director of the English county Lancashire.
Pothas played 3 ODIs for South Africa in 2000. Mark Beaucher became the wicketkeeper-batsman that Pothas could not make the place. However, Pothas , playing for a long time in Hampshire, scored 11,000 runs and 659 dismissals in 218 first-class matches.
